Nitish Rana is the new captain of KKR
Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday named left-handed batter Nitish Rana as the team’s new skipper for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Actually, Nitish has been appointed interim captain by Kolkata Knight Riders in place of injured Shreyas Iyer. Nitish Rana is an Indian cricketer who represents the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Delhi cricket team in domestic cricket. 29-year-old Rana, who has led his state team Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, has played 74 matches for KKR and scored 1744 runs at a strike rate of 135.61. Rana is a right-arm off-spin bowler. He was KKR's second-highest run-scorer last year.
Nitish was born on December 27, 1993, in Delhi, India. He made his domestic debut for Delhi in 2015 and has since been a consistent performer for the team. He is a middle-order batter, he gained prominence during the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season when he scored a double-century against Assam. He led his state team Delhi in 12 T20s in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (2019-2022).
Nitish Rana made his IPL debut in 2016 for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and played a crucial role in their title-winning campaign that year. He played for the Mumbai Indians till 2017 before being bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL auction for the 2018 season. Since then, he has been a regular member of the KKR squad.
